dc.description.abstract | The study is on the traditional weaving style of Sambalpuri saree. Sambalpuri Sarees are hand-woven sarees made in Western Odisha, primarily 0Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, and Balangir. The Sambalpuri Sarees are entirely hand-woven . “The entire process of weaving a saree is done by hand; no machines are employed in any of the processes Sambalpuri sarees are notable for their use of traditional themes based on the kalinga architecture and mythological references, such as Sankha or shell, phula or flower, and chakra or wheel, as well as swans and fish”. Sambalpur is the fifth biggest city. It is situated on the Mahanadi River's banks. It is the birthplace of the world-famous Sambalpuri Saree, from which the world-famous textile gets its name before being divided. The traces of traditional knowledge system are still alive & seen in the weavers’ settlement. The traditional weaver’s houses are the evidences of impact of occupation in their livelihood & shelters. Presently the most of the villages of Baragarh.sonepur are continuing the occupation. Whereas less number of villages of sambalpur are still active in this occupation. & some are .he present condition states some threats to the occupation but also at the same time more numbers of young generation are interested to continue the traditional occupation with respect & earning. | en_US |
