dc.description.abstract | Redevelopment is mainly restoration and improvement of an existing structure or property. Process of demolition of the existing improvements and construction of new improvements on a site, where the new improvements are often a different type from the old is the main process involved in redevelopment. Nowadays the urban fabric of the old city is threatened by overcrowding, lack of maintenance and poor services, so Redevelopment aims to rehabilitate the city, to preserve its heritage, to create a better quality of life for its inhabitants and also to upgrade the economic activities. In old cities, the urban fabric has suffered from neglect, inappropriate use and inadequate services, with many people living in dilapidated buildings in unsanitary conditions. Improvement in Infrastructure improve the conditions, is a part of Redevelopment. The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) comprises of 70 wards, area is 197 sq km. With the increasing urbanization and loading on the city the core area being degraded leading Narrow Roads , lacking in Infrastructure etc. Main issues of the city core Raipur are the increasing rate of land value of the core area has come down, nor very safe for pedestrians to move around in this area because of the high and chaotic state of traffic flow in this area, the whole of the old Raipur has become fragmented into many pieces of land and development of any area is possible only if the area is large and un-fragmented, slow traditional activities are currently being replaced by warehouses. The research questions which will come up during the process are given as follows: What are the local economic activities carried out in the region ? Whether the area has potentials for commercial activities? What kind of development do the local people want? What can be done to preserve the cultural heritage and distinct identity of the place? By the primary survey and secondary data, a hypothesis can evaluate the revitalization of core area which can sustain city physically and promote economic activities. As per the aim of the study is to sustain physical infrastructure and encourage economic vitality of the core area, Raipur, objectives find out, to give thesis steps. In order to achieve these objectives, each objective can be divide into several sub objectives and tasks and for each task the specific data source need to be identified. The primary data includes the perception study, detailedfieldsurvey and questionnaire survey of the visitors, household members and shopkeepers. Secondary data are collected from various sources like RDA, T&CP Raipur, and RMC etc. | en_US |
