Abstract: The city of Ghaziabad is a fast growing industrial city within the National Capital Region of Delhi. Ghaziabad is listed amongst the world’s fastest growing cities and as one of the most dynamic economies of the world. The city has not only grown in terms of its size and population, the socio-economic profile of the population has also undergone a major shift whereby the city has changed from a traditional small/ medium sized city of the state to a City with Cosmopolitan Culture. This shift has also resulted in improved economic capacity of the city, thereby leading to higher demands for socio-cultural needs for the city. This design thesis sets out to perceive a modern gathering place , that embraces people from all walks of life to meet and to celebrate keeping in mind the basic ingredients of a community centre i.e. leisure space, socialize, relaxation, communication with the surroundings of nature. The proposed design will be an attempt to create a well knit physical environment in which different cultural, diverse disciplines, cast, and religion will have an opportunity to interact each other thereby enriching their experience. The proposed design project will incorporate facilities such as Auditorium, Food Courts, Banquet Hall, Indoor Sports Facility/ Gym, Club House, etc. The proposed site is located in a medium dense residential area of Nehru Nagar , Ghazaibad, U.P. Nehru Nagar is well connected with Hapur Road and adjacent other residential areas like Raj nagar, Shastri nagar and Kavi nagar etc. This site is identified by GDA and has proposal for the same purpose.
